The Elcometer P500 was originally designed to accurately locate valve boxes and manhole covers. The device can also be used as a general-purpose metal detector. The Elcometer P500 is a surprisingly simple and extremely robust instrument.
The Elcometer P500 can detect metal objects at depths of up to 1m (39.4"). The device has certain features that give it an edge over the competition, such as:
